Educational opportunities at all levels

The University of Basel and the BQC offer a wide range of courses, structured programmes and networking activities for students and early-stage researchers, from the Bachelor to the postdoctoral level.

Undergraduate courses and projects

The BQC PIs are actively involved in teaching courses across the spectrum of quantum science and technology. Please consult the course directory of the University of Basel for detailed information. We also always welcome students interested in conducting a Bachelor's thesis, Master's project or Master's thesis in one of the BQC groups. Please contact the PIs directly to inquire about possible topics.

Doctoral programmes

The PhD programme Quantum Computing and Quantum Technologies (QCQT) of the University of Basel was established in 2016 at the Department of Physics, with PhD projects embedded in the BQC groups. For more information, please visit the QCQT page. The BQC is also one of the nodes of the QUSTEC PhD programme at the European Campus Eucor

Postgraduate networks

The BQC coordinates the activities of the Georg H. Endress Postdoc Cluster at the Center for Quantum Science and Quantum Computing (QSQC), a cross-border collaboration between the University of Basel and the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg (Germany), embedded in the European Campus Eucor. The cluster is a dedicated initiative to promote and train outstanding young scientists to provide the academic talent and technological skills for the rapidly developing field of quantum science and technology. For more information, please visit the Georg H. Endress Postdoc Cluster page.

PhD and postdoc positions

We are always looking for PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows who are highly motivated, have analytical and creative thinking skills, good communication skills and a qualified background. Details of the application process can be found on the websites of our research groups and by contacting the PIs directly.

Women in Physics network

The Women in Physics Network of the Department of Physics of the University of Basel promotes the exchange of experiences and information among female members of the department, with a special focus on (but not limited to) gender-related issues in the scientific world. Please visit the Women in Physics Network page for more information.
