Arrival by plane

At EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse (MLH / BSL)

When exiting the airport, make sure you take the exit to Switzerland. (There is also an exit to France!)

By public transport

Take bus number 50. Get off at the Kannenfeldplatz stop and walk down Metzerstrasse to the junction with St. Johanns-Ring. Follow the St. Johanns-Ring down to Klingelbergstrasse. 

By taxi

A taxi from the EuroAirport to the Department of Physics will cost around CHF 30.


Arrival by train

At Basel SBB tailway station (from Switzerland and France)

Take bus number 30 (direction Badischer Bahnhof) and get off at the Bernoullianum stop. Take the pedestrian underpass a few metres behind the bus stop. Walk north-west along Hebelstrasse until you reach St. Johanns-Ring. Turn right and walk along St. Johanns-Ring. At the second intersection, turn right into Klingelbergstrasse. The Department of Physics is just around the corner on the left-hand side of Klingelbergstrasse.

Alternative 
Leave the station through the main entrance and take the yellow tram number 11 towards St. Louis Grenze. Get off at the St. Johanns-Tor stop. Turn left and walk up St. Johanns-Ring to Klingelbergstrasse (second on the left). The Physics Department is at number 82.

A taxi from Basel SBB to the Physics Department will cost about 25 CHF.
 

At Badischer Bahnhof (from Germany)

Take bus number 30 (direction Bahnhof SBB) and get off at the Bernoullianum stop. Walk downhill (in the opposite direction to where you came by bus) and take the first street on your left, Hebelstrasse. Walk down Hebelstrasse until you reach St. Johanns-Ring. Turn right and walk down St. Johanns-Ring. At the second intersection, turn right into Klingelbergstrasse. The Department of Physics is just around the corner on the left-hand side of Klingelbergstrasse.

A taxi from Badischer Bahnhof to the Department of Physics will cost about 20 CHF.

Arrival by car

From Switzerland and Germany

Take the motorway exit Basel Badischer Bahnhof and follow the signs to Universitätsspital (University Hospital). After the bridge (Johanniterbrücke) turn right into Elsässerstrasse. Follow this street until you reach St. Johanns-Tor, where you turn left into St. Johanns-Ring. The Department of Physics is located on the corner of St. Johanns-Ring and Klingelbergstrasse.

Be prepared to look for a parking space. The closest car park is the Parkhaus City at the Universitätsspital. 

If you are coming from Germany, you will need a motorway vignette (Autobahn-Vignette, 40 CHF) for the motorway or exit the motorway in Germany.

 

From France

Leave the motorway at the border and follow the signs to Bahnhof SBB until you reach Kannenfeldplatz. Turn left (crossing the tram track) and follow Metzerstrasse to the intersection with St. Johanns-Ring (the intersection with the traffic lights). Follow St. Johanns-Ring down to Klingelbergstrasse, where you will find the Department of Physics. 

Be prepared to look for a parking space. The closest car park is Parkhaus City at Universitätsspital (University Hospital).
