This year’s Georg H. Endress PostDoc Cluster Retreat 2026 took place from 22 June to 24 June 2026, in the heart of the Swiss Alps in Valbella, Graubünden, Switzerland.
The retreat brought together Cluster fellows and leading experts from within and beyond the Cluster, fostering interdisciplinary exchange across a broad range of topics in quantum physics. Discussions spanned Complex Quantum Systems, Quantum Information and Communication, Quantum Sensing, Ultracold Matter, and Attosecond Quantum Phenomena, while also providing a platform to discuss the future directions of the Cluster’s quantum research.
The scientific programme focused on informal talks of 30 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion, allowing the opportunity for questions, exchange, and interaction among the participants. This year’s invited speakers were:
In addition, evening PI round tables provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions on the future directions of the Cluster. The sessions brought together participants from France, Germany, and Switzerland, strengthening collaboration and exchange across the region.
A hike through the surrounding alpine landscape to Heidbühl Lake offered participants an opportunity to continue conversations in a relaxed setting, with some taking a refreshing dip in the lake and others enjoying a drink together.
The retreat received consistently positive feedback from participants and generated exciting ideas as well as new opportunities for future collaboration. The successful event was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Endress Foundation.
